Collaborative Methods
During this course, we’ll be working together to create and analyze collaborative performance projects. Along the way we’ll engage in critical analysis of each others’ work, as well as exemplary works of collaborative performance. Our analysis will be backed by the theory that motivates this work and the collaborative environment(s) that they occur in.
This class takes for granted that all performance works engage collaboration: not just between creators, but with media, materials, places, and systems. These themes are the organizing principles for the projects we conduct together and the works we refer to.
Finally, this class, being about collaboration, looks at the ways in which we work together, and carries with it an ethic of kindness, constructive critique, and mutual support.
