transmission
Arrival meets Pokemon Go in transmission: a distributed performance and podcast series. This work used a combination of live, site-specific performance, audio storytelling, and geo-located, augmented reality scenes to tell a story about first contact with alien life.
transmission premiered at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It includes 29 augmented reality scenes, distributed through the city of Edinburgh. Each scene offers a glimpse into the events leading up to and following humanity’s first interstellar journey. An app serves as the dossier for transmission, delivering location-based content to audience members as they wander the city.
Additionally, a full 16 episode season of the transmission Podcast gave listeners background on the science that backs up the story, and offers special insight into the world and characters of transmission.
